It’s the Wine Shows awards time and Oceans Estate first is a Bronze at the 2011 Cowra Wine Show for its 2010 Chardonnay and today at the Perth Royal Wine Show the 2010 Chardonnay picked up a Silver, and a Bronze going to the 2011 Sauvignon Blanc & Semillon Sauvignon Blanc.

Welcome back, We are happy to advise that 3 bronze has been given to the 2010 Chardonnay, 2011 Sauvignon Blanc & Semillon Sauvignon Blanc at the 2011 Rutherglen Wine Show. There’s are 2 more coming up in the next 2 weeks, so stay tune.

Oceans Estate is proud to announce that its 2011 Sauvignon Blanc picked up 2 Bronze in a space of 1 week with Qantas Wine Show Awards in Mt Barker and Australian Small Winemakers Show in QLD. The 2011 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc picking up another Bronze at the Australian Small Winemakers Show.

We also happy to received our first Bronze for the 2011 Semillon, which is also Oceans Estate first commercial label Semillon. Well done Frank.

Oceans Estate has scored it first GOLD medal - 2010 Chardonnay. Bronze was awarded to 2011 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc at Royal Hobart Wine Show this week.

This now leaves Margaret River Wine Show the last one for 2011 which is on next week, with results on Friday.

The results are in from the Margaret River Wine Show and Oceans Estate has taken Bronze for both the 2011 Semillon & 2010 Chardonnay.

Welcome back to Oceans Estate,we have great news from the rest of the wine shows since the last report. First is from Australian Small Winemakers Show where the Sauvignon Blanc 2010 recieved a bronze and also a bronze to Tomasi Merlot 2008. Next was the Royal Hobart Wine Show where the 2007 Merlot recieved a bronze as well as the 2010 Sauvignon Blanc. Finally the last wine show of the year is the Margaret River Wine Show and we are happy to pick up a Silver for the 2010 SBS & a bronze for the 2010 Sauvignon Blanc. So grab some of our great show winning wines for this summer!

Oceans Estate is pleased to announce great news from some recent wine shows where the 2010 Sauvignon Blanc received a Bronze at the Perth Royal Wine Show in early September.

Next was the Qantas Mt Barker Wine Show where the 2010 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon received a Silver.Our first for a SBS.

Rounding off was the Royal Adelaide Wine Show where both 2010 Sauvignon Blanc & Sauvignon Blanc Semillon picking up a Bronze each.

We have recently been given a 4 star rating by James Halliday, 1 up from last year and hope to go up one better next time. Also good news to see is the ’special value’ for the SBS, Pinot Noir & SB. We will soon be bottling the 2010 whites of SB & SBS. The wine award shows are also underway and we’ll see what the wine present us with.

The 2008 Sauvignon Blanc is almost sold out,the best we’ve made and the most awarded white. So don’t miss out if you enjoyed it and best to stock up.

2009 has been a fantastic year for Oceans Estate,winning up to 11 medals with the 2007 Cabernet Merlot picking up 2 Silver and 3 Bronze, 2007 Merlot receiving 2 Bronze, 2009 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon 2 Bronze, 2008 Chardonnay 1 bronze and 2008 Cabernet Merlot 1 Bronze.

Oceans Estate, as premium wine producer in the Karridale sub-region of Margaret River, have been loyal and generous supporters of Telethon Speech & Hearing. Every year in Australia, 1 in 300 babies, like Riley Johnstone, is born into a world of silence.

When Riley was born in a leap year on 29 February 2008, his parents thought that he would be a very special child. Little did they know that he would be special for an unexpected reason!

Riley’s hearing loss was detected at birth through Telethon Speech & Hearing’s newborn screen program at SJOG Murdoch. Further tests followed and with heavy hearts and lots of tears, Riley’s parents, Greg and Michelle, faced the painful reality that their beautiful baby boy suffered from hearing impairment.

Riley’s parents decided that the best option for their son was Telethon Speech & Hearing’s Chatterbox program where he would develop listening and speaking skills with help from a team of intervention specialists.

Riley is now 19 months and he runs, plays and communicates like any child his age.

“The Chatterbox team was very understanding, welcoming and comforting. Telethon Speech & Hearing has made a world of difference to our family and we have come a long way with their guidance and support,” said Michelle.

Good Food & Wine Show Brisbane 6-8 November

The 2007 Sauvignon Blanc is nearly sold out. It is your last chance to get the Fifth best SB from the 2007 Melbourne wine show. The 2008 wine will follow directly. Although the styles are very similar, Frank thinks the 2008 is a better wine. ’It shows greater depth of fruit’ was the comment.

We have bud burst in our remaining Pinot Noir block and in our old Merlot block. The second Merlot block and the new Sauvignon Blanc are at the 20% woolly bud stage. This is average timing and points to a hopefully good year. We have nearly finished restructuring our old Sauvignon Blanc vineyard. By converting the vines back to canes from spurs we are hoping to achieve more predictable yields with improved quality. It has been a herculean task and our 2 key workers, Beth and John, will be happy to see the end of this task.

It is the wine show season. We should have some more results next month. We will have the 2006 reds released to the market and maybe the 2008 Rose as well as the 2008 Sauvignon Blanc.

The Oceans Estate 2007 Merlot received a Bronze medal at the Perth Royal Wine Show 2008. The judges comments were: “Classic Merlot showing abundant rich mid-palate fruit with soft lingering tannins. Lots of plum and mulberry. A good example of how enjoyable Merlot can be.” With a statement like that they should have given it a gold.
